Overnight Program

Our overnight program is one-of-a-kind where horses are not just an activity…they are THE activity. Our lucky programers live in a fully furnished house on the equestrian facility property and are able to spend every moment from sun up to sun down with the horses. Sessions are limited to 15 programers and this small group size allows for a lot of individualized attention and home-style atmosphere.

Riding & Horse Care
The heart and soul of every horse program is going to be time spent in the saddle and alongside the horses. Our program is very unique in that our entire program is structured around horses and our programers get to serve as an integral part of the working horse farm while being housed on-site. This allows them unmatched time in the saddle and the barn.

Daily riding is a part of the program schedule and often includes many hours spent in the saddle in organized lessons, horse back games, trail rides, and more! Our programers can expect to have the opportunity to ride many horses while attending one of our sessions. Due to the small session size our program is flexible and versatile and riders get to have an active role in helping decide which horses they will ride each day. When not riding programers assist in all aspects of horse care including grooming, feeding, cleaning, tacking, exercising, bathing, and more! Educational sessions regarding horse show preparation, horse health, types of tack, nutrition and more are incorporated into the weekly sessions.

Horse Shows
Riders that participate in our overnight program program also have the option to participate in coinciding Northwoods Hunter Jumper Circuit Shows (for an additional fee).  This is a great way for riders to showcase all they have learned at program and make some lifelong memories with their new friends, both human & equine!  The Northwoods Hunter Jumper Circuit is a very supportive and welcoming circuit with classes for riders of all levels.  The show fees are very reasonable and participating in these events can serve as a great milestone to celebrate the hard work and dedication put forth during program.

GNRC is also host to two of the circuit horse shows each summer.  This summer the following weeks will have a coinciding horse show:

  • Week 1: Eagle River Hunter Jumper Show (Hosted at GNRC)
  • Week 3: Northwoods Hunter Jumper Show (Norway, MI)
  • Week 5:  Deerpath Hunter Jumper Show (Conover, WI)
  • Week 7:  Eagle River Hunter Jumper Show #2 (Hosted at GNRC)
Our programers are working hard all day and deserve to be able to relax in a fully furnished, air-conditioned home on site!  Our bunk rooms include twin-sized bunk beds, closets, and storage units to house belongings.  programers also have access to indoor bathrooms 24/7 and laundry facilities on site.

We are a registered program which means that we adhere to strict guidelines and safety regulations while passing an annual inspection from the State of Wisconsin.  This ensures that your child’s safety and well being is a top priority.

All of our program meals are made in our state of the art commercial kitchen.  Our sessions are kept very small which allows our programers the opportunity to influence the menu and be a part of meal times at GNRC.  Meals are served family style and we often have cookouts and themed dinners to keep things exciting and fun!  programers at GNRC are continuously working hard and both meals and snacks are carefully planned to be nutritious and energy packed to keep everyone going through-out the day.   Food allergies and dietary considerations can be accommodated.
